University
Middlesex University

The Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education programme is a vital professional developmental qualification for staff working to support learning in a predominantly higher education environment. This is a part-time, integrated course for higher education professionals to focus their enquiry, research and scholarship activity on developing practice that is more effective and raising achievement in their particular area.  All modules are based upon gaining and sharing knowledge of good practice through research and literature, implementing this and reflecting on the effect or impact. The course is designed so that assignments are built into the working practice. Studying the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education provides an important grounding in higher education pedagogies, current debates in HE policies, as well as providing support mechanisms for the continuing development of your teaching practice.

The programme is fully accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in UK. Successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education programme confers Fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) on participants upon making the appropriate payment directly to the HEA.

Graduates of the programme gain professional skills and attributes such as:

  • Engagement with e-learning environments;
  • Recognising your professional insight and expertise;
  • Developing the skills and outlook of a practitioner-researcher.
  • An internationally recognised teaching qualification in higher education.
  • Recognition as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
